COVID-19 – Brighton City Airport Status Update


We appreciate the eagerness of the GA community to get back flying again and we look forward to seeing you in the air again after this long lay-off.  However, we are all working within the Governments guidelines and the latest notice issued on 31 March 2020 which can be found at:


Notwithstanding, the published hours shown elsewhere on the website, because of the COVID-19 situation, the Airport is open daily between 0900 and 1800 (L) to support essential flying, emergency services and military movements.  Staffing levels have been reduced to minimum with social distancing measures applied.  Air Traffic Control services are available at most times, but this is reduced to Air/Ground occasionally to accommodate rest breaks.  The Fire cover is established for CAT 1, but we can accommodate CAT2 movements on requests subject to 24 hrs notice.

We continue to operate under Prior Permission Required (PPR) rules.  Please contact ATC on 01273 467377 and also monitor NOTAMs for the latest updates.

The Terminal Building is closed to visitors and the Hummingbird Restaurant is closed until further notice.

We have good quantities of Jet A1 and AVGAS available, but with card payment only.

Apron and grass parking available and temporary accommodation in the Municipal Hangar can be made available on request.

We continue to review our operation daily in light of the updated advice and announcements made by Government.  Clearly it would be a pleasure to see you, but only do so if you can satisfy the guidance given in the link above.

We have provided based operators with a process to follow to accommodate the need for essential flying as the current restrictions have been prolonged. Details can be obtained from ATC.
